Rome – “nasone” (big nose), in Centocelle neighborhood

13-10-26_roma nasone centocelle

Recording made with a piezoelectric disc attached to a “nasone” (typical fountain widespread in Rome), on avenue of spring during the workshop about soundmaps and soundscape organized at the library “Rinascita”. By recording audio with a piezo makes possible to emphasize the sound of the water in the pipes that put into resonance the entire cast iron body of the fountain. The “nasone” is sadly disappearing from the landscape (and soundscape) of the city, taking away little by little, a public service and a symbol much beloved by Romans for a long time.

Recorded with a Zoom H4n and a piezo contact.
